Mexico 2012

Tulum

We left Xpujil where we had a great rest.

At 8:30 we checked our mails and road on the internet and headed to Oxxo. We could only find a mini market at a petrol station. We took some drinks and snacks and drove to Chetumal.

At the boarder between Campeche and Quintana Roo, the amry stopped us and checked our car. We guessed they were looking for weapons. We headed to Chetumal until Oxxo to get our favorite Frappe and sandwiches and drove to Tulum.

Tulum is a small town, not very old, and very touristic and expensive.  We stopped at a Mexican restaurant with new cuisine. Having no idea of what we ordered, we received a torta with raw meat for Revaz and raw squid for me. It wasn t bad, but not our taste. The price was not our taste either. It felt like we arrived at a luxury area.

We went to the beach side and stopped randomly in front of a place called Diamante K. It is a kind of resort made out of cabanas on the white sandy beach of Tulum.

We checked for the price range and had a look at other cabanas too. Diamante K was made for us so we checked in. Tomas, the operation manager, showed us the place and after checking in, I went for a swim at a beach nearby. Revaz called me on my way back as he had met other travelers staying at Diamante. We had a great time with them. Ivan, Carlos, Gaby and their dog Kiko from Merida, Mario from Barcelona, Deborah from Scotland and other guys. The Merida friends were cool and so happy to hear we loved their country. I laughed myself to death with Mario and his great Mayan stories.

Finally we watched the moon rise from the sea. There is no word to express our feeling about this paradise area. Everything fits; the white sand, the turquoise water, coconut trees, hammocks everywhere, a nice exotic bar and restaurant and great people. The place is decorated with taste and in the evening the many colors of lights make it more unique.

We fell asleep early. That’s how everyone lives here. You wake up with the sunrise and fall asleep with sunset.
