Mexico 2012

Second day in Tulum

Unfortunately, our Merida friends had to go back home the next day, but we met other people from France. Jerome with wife and kids and Helene and Raphael, a couple of backpackers going to Belize afterwards.

We already miss our Mexican friends and keep such good memories of the short time we’ve spent with them.

We first decided to watch the sunrise and  headed by foot to Tulum Site trough the beach. It was so hot we came back to Diamante.

It seems like this place has a soul.

We chilled out the rest of the day and had many drinks with our French friends in the evening around the beach and above the so called ritual area of Mario. Mario arrived in Tulum and had planned to stay for 2 nights. He told us he can’t live the place and was already there for more than 35 days. They call him ”the resident”. We’ve learned later that Diamante and Mario’s cabana have been built over a cave where Mayan Priest were doing sacrifices. Mario is persuaded that he feels something at night. He says the cabana shakes. You can see the entrance of the cave but it’s really narrow and I would be more scared of being face to face with an iguana than anything else!
